The three people were arrested with 30 grams of MDMA brought for sale in front of a private person's flat in Kunjamoola, Panthirankavu Kuzhal Nadakkavu by the City DANSAF team led by Assistant Commissioner K.A. The arrested were Abdul Samad, a brother of Ercham house in Areekad Nallalam, Sajid Jamal, a native of Ercham house in Alappuzha, and Arafa Nadeer, a native of Mannancheri. In 2024, they were caught by the Bengaluru police with 18 kilograms of cannabis and were released on bail. Arafa Nadeer was released from the Bengaluru jail on August 15 after serving a year and a half in the cannabis case. Sajid and Nadeer met in prison. Sajid Jamal called Nadeer, who was out on bail, to Kozhikode to trade drugs. Moreover, it was Sajid who provided the necessary financial assistance to get Nadeer out on bail. They have previously transported large quantities of MDMA from Bangalore to Kozhikode and sold them. They mainly target students and youth. They had kept very dangerous breeds such as Rottweiler and German Shepherd in front of their room to prevent police or other strangers from entering their residence. When they saw the police, they tried to release the dogs, but the police subdued them with timely intervention. A large amount of MDMA was supplied to those arrested in several recent drug cases in and outside the city. Police have received information that the brothers are Abdul Samad and Sajid Jamal.
